About the FIA

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) is the global governing body of motorsport, responsible for creating and enforcing the sporting, technical and safety regulations that govern championships around the world – from grassroots competition to Formula 1.

Formula 4 was introduced by the FIA to establish a clear, affordable and internationally recognised first step into single-seater racing. Every FIA-certified Formula 4 championship follows the same core philosophy: to provide young drivers with equal opportunities, high safety standards and a structured pathway towards the highest levels of motorsport.

As an FIA-certified championship, the F4 German Championship is organised in full compliance with FIA regulations. The championship uses FIA-homologated cars, applies internationally recognised sporting and technical rules, and meets the latest safety requirements, ensuring that every driver competes on a professional and level playing field.

Success in the F4 German Championship is also rewarded with FIA Super Licence points, allowing drivers to take the next step on the FIA’s global single-seater ladder towards Formula Regional, FIA Formula 3, FIA Formula 2 and ultimately Formula 1.
